Never forget UAE

Never forget UAE
Dr. Jassim Taqui

The people of Pakistan would never forget the positive and proactive policy of UAE and her support to Pakistan in all international fora. One would remind our Foreign Office the good will of late Sheikh Zayed  bin Sultan AL- Nahyan since the establishment of UAE in 1971.

The legendry Zayed supported the Kashmir issue, took active part in the 1973 Lahore Islamic summit , contributed generously to the economic progress of Pakistan and embraced over 400,000 Pakistani expatriates. He went on to extend help to the poor and down trodden Pakistanis through a chain of charity schemes all over the country.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan continued the same policy with even more vigor since he took over the reign of power on 3rd November, 2004.

Unfortunately, Pakistani politicians have messed up the relations and could not communicate one voice to UAE and other members of GCC regarding the issue of Yemen. As a result a friction was developed.
Now, that Pakistan has finally decided to take part in the Islamic Military Alliance against terrorism, it is high time that Foreign Office should arrange a summit meeting between the leaders of the two countries to bring back the relations to normality.

UAE people are distinguished by their warmth and love for Pakistan to the extent that they categorize the people of Pakistan as brothers. This reminds me of an Arab proverb by a poet:

اخاك أخاك إن من لا أخ له                    كساع الى الهيجا بغير سلاح
ابن عم المر فاعلم جناحه                 وهل ينهض البازي  بغير  جناح
