Supreme Court historic verdict

In a historic verdict, the Supreme Court upheld Sindh High Court verdict, which issued directives to the Interior Ministry for removal of the former COAS Gen. Pervez Musharraf’s name from the Exit Control List . This decision is paving the way for Musharraf to leave the country while awaiting trial for many charges especially the treason charge.
The verdict has restored the dignity of the Army, which was undermined by treason trial of COAS. Gen. Musharraf acted in line with his responsibility to ensure security, independence and territorial integrity of Pakistan by fighting the rebels in Balochistan province who targeted military and civil institution in a classic acts of terrorism and treason. Hence, Musharraf should have been commended, not humiliated by charging him of committing treason.
Furthermore, those who bring the armed forces in dispute are the ones who should be charged with treason as per the Constitution of Pakistan.
Viewing the cases, which were raised against Musharraf, one can smell vengeance and hatred, which should not have been conceived in the first place.
It is about time that the system should be stabilized and politicians should move on. When you’re in power, you must act magnanimous. For, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
