Taming of the shrew

Taming of the shrew
Dr. Jassim Taqui

Shakespeare was at his best in his famous novel “The taming of the Shrew.” You would enjoy every word of a romantic comedy that also goes deep into two contrasting personality around whom the plot revolves. It is a light hearted novel that also concludes with a happy ending.

The theme is very powerful. It tells you how to devise a workable mechanism to tame a difficult personality.

The theme of the novel applies powerfully on the efforts of the LEAs to tame corrupt and influential militant outfits, political parties and rogue personalities many of whom are billionaires. The efforts continues to tame MQM, PPP, and military wings of major political parties. However, none would dare to tame the roaring Tiger of Punjab. Hence, the taming process would be an unfinished business even if minus one formula is implemented.

The Shrews are powerful. They use their influence to undo the taming process through horse-trading, legislation by rubber stamp provincial and federal assemblies.

An interesting aspect of the taming is that it can be reversed into the other direction i.e. the corrupt would be emboldened to shift the battle to his opponent’s yard. It a matter of survival or do or die operation..
