étreinte culturelle

Cultural Embrace
étreinte culturelle
Dr. Jassim Taqui

Islamabad is embracing the 4th literature Festival at the Faiz Ahmed Faiz Open –Air Theatre, Lok Virsa. The majestic show of literature has been organized by Ameerna Saiyed, OBE Managing director, Oxford University Press and Founder Director, Karachi and Islambad Literature Festivals Asif Farrukh, Founder Karachi and Islamabad Literature Festivals. Key speakers in the event were former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khart and renowned critic , poet and Urdu writers, Masood Ashar.

Ameena Saiyed combined well with Dr. Fauzia Saeed, Executive Director of Lok Virsa.

The event was also embraced by the elegant  British High Commissioner Thomas Drew, and charming French Ambassador Martine Dorance, and Austrian Ambassador Dr. Brigatta Balah.
All three Ambassadors emphasized the importance of cultural ties to strengthen relations with Pakistan and to soften the “ hard image’ of Pakistan.

Khar was articulate in her self-criticism and her perception of optimism and pessimism in the present trend of conducting foreign affairs. One has to be a poet to narrate the aroma of august gathering. However, I would put it in this poem I wrote since I am a strong adherent to the principle of brevity in discourse:

Fading slowly, painfully my organs, die,
None remains, no matter how I try,

For one ultimate fact  remains  supreme,
Her majestic eyes, grace my darling feme,

Dying is change, she whispered, light,
Could see her angelic look so bright,

All disappear, die so suddenly, so fast,
Worshipping her,  der discourse right,

Dying was my fate , all I destroy,
So as to integrate with my love with joy.
