Pak-Saudi embrace

Pak-Saudi embrace
Dr. Jassim Taqui

I cherish the time tested history of the close fraternal relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The two countries have observed exemplary relations at religious, cultural and economic fronts. The wellbeing of people of Pakistan carries very special importance to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Those were the highlights of a short speech of Saudi Ambassador Abdullah Al Zahrani at a signing ceremony between Saudi Arabia and  UN WFP held at Saudi Embassy in Islamabad. Saudi Arabia contributed 396 metric tons of dates to be distributed among 148000 families of IDPs.

Responding to the Saudi gesture, the representative of UN Lola Castro welcomed the donation and paid rich tribute to Government of Saudi Arabia and King Salman Bin Abdul-Aziz for their generous donation of dates. Castro also disclosed that the UN Aid and Relief Centre would work with the Government of Pakistan to improve food security and nutrition in the country.
