What is the game of Nawaz Sharif
Dr. Jassim Taqui
People continue to debate the absence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif (NS) from Pakistan. There are all sorts of rumors. The strangest one is that Nawaz Sharif faked his illness just to buy time. He also faked the open heart surgery. When local TV stations asked NS to give conclusive evidence about the surgery, he and his daughter Mariam Nawaz kept silent.
The impression prevailing here is that NS got a tip from an insider that he would be de-seated as MNA by judiciary in view of documents released by Panama Leaks, which accused him and his family of corruption and dirty money laundering.
While in London, he is contacting top lawyers to find a way out from conviction. Ostensibly, the cases against him are so strong and straight that no legal company can defend him or absolve him from the crimes he allegedly committed.
NS tried to make a deal with PPP to hush-hush the cases of corruption. However, PPP- co-Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari rejected the deal.
Another worry is the fact that NS might lose billions of dollars, which were deposited in Swiss banks.
Suddenly, NS is a mere feather in the wind. All his ill-gotten wealth and properties have gone with the wind.
The other question that has no answer until now is: who is running the government ?
