Secretary ESED Dr. Shahzad Bangash visits Education Directorate

Peshawar, July 14, 2016: The new Secretary for KP Elementary and Secondary Education Department Dr. Shahzad Bangash visited the Directorate of Education on Thursday where he received a briefing on the various ongoing initiatives and projects of the education directorate. He also met with the officers of the directorate and some of the district education office (DEOs). Administrative issues such as transport issue of female DEOs and other operational issues were also discussed.

“We have provided vehicles, furniture, the internet and other needs at the district level therefore now our expectation is improved performance. We are introducing a culture to distinguish between performer and non-performer; best performers will be encouraged through rewards. Monitoring of district officials visits to the schools will be done through an Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU”, Said Shahzad Bangash Secretary ESED “Regular contact and coordination are required with teachers since best of the IT systems fail without human intervention. The department is making all the decisions purely on merit and without any political interference. If you find any evidence of political interference or violation of rules/regulations, bring this to our knowledge. There are huge achievements in the last three years but there is a lot to be done with a particular focus on performance indicators” the secretary added.

“I am highly impressed with the performance and achievements of the directorate and I have full confidence in the leadership of the directorate,” said Shahzad Bangash, Secretary ESED while chairing a meeting together with the Rafique Khattak Director and Mr. Qaisar Alam Special Secretary.

On this occasion, Special Secretary Qaiser Alam also mentioned that IMU dashboard should be used by the district officials in order to monitor their performance and set targets for improvement. Development schemes should be monitored by the officials. Development of more IT labs, play areas and provision of furniture will remain major focus during FY 2016-17.

On this occasion, it was reiterated that KP education reforms process would continue as planned and every effort will be made to achieve all targets within deadlines.
