The new military alliance

The new military alliance
Dr. Jassim Taqui

In a dramatic move, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan agreed to form a Quadrilateral Cooperation and Coordination Mechanism (QCCM.) The objective of the new military alliance is to counter terrorism through intelligence sharing, joint military exercises, training and joint operations.

Both Gen. Raheel Sharif and Chinese Chief of General Staff Gen Fang Fenghui of People Liberation Army co-sponsored QCCM.
Subsequently Afghan Army Chief Qadam Shah and chief of Tajikistan Army Major General EA Cobidrzoda joined the military alliance.
All the four generals were unanimous that QCCM would crush terrorists to ensure regional peace and stability.

One can notice that all the four countries are members of SCO. This makes QCCM an outcome of SCO. The mind boggling question is, however, why QCCM did ignore the Russian Federation. One would suggest that QCCM does not want to involve in the current Cold War II between Washington and Moscow.

For Pakistan, QCCM is great news. It would ensure the protection of the CPEC and its successful implementation. On the other hand, QCCM is a setback to the Obama administration, which is blessing India-Iran-Afghanistan alliance to sabotage the QCCM.

Therefore, the US President Barak Obama showed his real anti-Pakistan policy by cancelling the F-16 deal and by stopping a due CSF tranche of $300 million for the Pakistani army.

This hostile Obama policy towards Pakistan might be a blessing in disguise. Now, Pakistan has to rely on itself in meeting its requirement of weapons and financing to defeat terrorism.
