The People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria is in the news with Pakistan embraces wholeheartedly this great revolution of FLN. Presently, the memories of 1954 revolution are reenacted, among the civil society and official civil and military circles.
Ambassador Lakhal Benkelai and Madame hosted a warm reception at a hotel here to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the national day of the People’s Democratic republic of Algeria. A large number of the elite of Islamabad and Rawalpindi were in attendance. They included Aftab Sheikh, the Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, foreign diplomats, Pakistani civil and military officials and prominent figures  representing civil and military circles.
Pakistan and Algeria are bound by deep historic and cultural ties. The two countries enjoy cordial political and economic relations. They are cooperating with each other in several fields. This cooperation is slowly but surely expanding over the years.
During the Algerian struggle for liberation from French rule, the Algerian Mujahedeen inspired African, Asian and Latin American people to rise up demanding independence.

Algeria is blessed with rich natural sources including natural , which is mainly exported to Europe. Algeria has the 17th largest oil reserves in the world and the second largest in Africa. Algeria ranks the 9th largest reserves of natural gas.

Algeria is included in the European Union’s European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) which aims at bringing the EU and its neighbors closer. Giving incentives and rewarding best performers, as well as offering funds in a faster and more flexible manner, are the two main principles underlying the European Neighborhood Instrument (ENI) that came into force in 2014.
