Dr. Jassim Taqui

RAWALPINDI – Pakistan conducted today a successful test flight of a surface-to-surface missile, having a 2200km range, according to the Army’s spokesman.
ABABEEL, which can hit the target at a range of 2200km, is capable of delivering multiple warheads, using Multiple Independent Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology.
It can also carry nuclear warheads and has the capability to engage multiple targets with high precision, defeating the enemy’s hostile radars.
The test flight was aimed at validating the various design and technical parameters of the weapon system.
Development of Ababeel Weapon System is aimed at ensuring survivability of Pakistan’s ballistic missiles in the growing regional Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) environment, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement. “This will further reinforce deterrence.”
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zaka Ullah congratulated the team on this landmark achievement, according to the ISPR.
Also, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif conveyed their appreciation to the team and armed forces for the successful missile test.
