Sleeping with the enemy

Sleeping with the enemy
Dr. Jassim Taqui

Nobody knows how does the ruling regime think regarding some vital energy projects for the generation of electricity and development of the industrial sector.
The regime is deliberately delaying the projects of CPEC on the ground that the government lacks funds. According to the Senate, CPEC continues to be  “ an ink on paper.”
The regime has shelved the IP gas pipelines without giving any reason. Now it is preferring the TAPI pipelines, which cannot be implemented without ending the Afghan civil war and normalization of relations with India, both of which seem to be unattainable in the near future.
Now, the regime is delaying the  $2-billion North-South pipeline with Russia after signing an agreement with Moscow in 2015. First, the government claimed that it could not implement the project, which is the first Russian major investment in Pakistan after decades, due to US sanctions on Moscow. Later, it said that it wanted Russia to reduce the prices of the LNG.
One wonders who is the friend of the regime, which acts in a hostile manner with China, Iran, and Russia while it continues to sleep with the enemy.
