 Acrimony between India and Pakistan

Dr. Jassim Taqui

Islamabad, September 13, 2021: While the situation between India and Pakistan deteriorates daily and warrants de-escalation of tension, we find that New Delhi and Islamabad indulge in acrimony and hostility.

Both nations cannot afford this state of mind especially when they are confronting a dangerous mode of Delta Covid accompanied by unemployment, high prices, and uncertainties.

Unfortunately, India continues to refuse a third party mediation while rejecting also bilateral engagement with Pakistan.

As a result of this grim situation, Track II diplomacy also floundered.

However, one notices the emergence of the arena of a social media group on Facebook attempting reconciliation and bringing understanding between the people of the two neighbors.

This group is successfully connected families that had separated during 1947. Now, the mission of the group has been to re-connect people on both sides positively and forge peace and love between India Pakistan.

We hope that the rulers see the writing on the wall. The people of Pakistan and India has rejected the hate discourse. Rather, they are approaching each other through social media and other forums ignoring also the voices of hate emanating from political parties and the self-proclaimed puppets of the establishments.
