Safe Zone in Kabul

1, 2021: French President Emmanuel Macron proposed a safe zone in Kabul to allow
safe passage for people trying to leave Afghanistan. Promptly Germany, and UN-supported
while China and Russia kept quiet. Most probably Beijing and Mosco would use
veto power to abrogate the proposal due to its military implications.
This proposal is similar to the US “no-fly"
zones over Iraq were created soon after the cessation of hostilities, with the northern
exclusion zone -- north of the 36th parallel – established in June 1991 incident to
Operation Provide Comfort, and the corresponding southern zone — south of the
32nd parallel — established in August. The US move prepared the ground for the
invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Ironically the proposal created more miseries to the
Iraqi people since it was combined with unprecedented sanctions against the
Iraqi people through the Iraqi ruler Saddam Hussain was blessed by the US
administration in his 8-years old war with Iran.
President Macron is a civilized leader and supporter of
genuine human rights. One hopes that Macron would be a tool in the UN to
implement another Great deal in Afghanistan that ensures usurping its natural
resources especially Lithium, Gold Copper, oil, and natural gas a la Iraq
model.
