Transparency supports democracy Dr. Jassim Taqui

Transparency supports democracy
Dr. Jassim Taqui

Reacting to the Panama Leaks, the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif (NS) declared in an address to the nation the constitution of Judicial Commission (JC) to investigate allegations against himself and his family.
Ostensibly, Sharif seems to be on a weak wicket. His son Hussain Nawaz admitted publicly that the family owned Off-shore companies. Furthermore, the JC is to be headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court (SC). Here is the question. If NS is sincere in upholding the principle of accountability, he should have asked the Chief Justice of Pakistan  (CJ)to head the JC. All parties would have been compelled to accept the final verdict  of the CJ and the issue would have been decided amicably.
Transparency is the best mechanism to ensure the survival of the democratic system in Pakistan, and indeed in every democratic system. Nobody should be indispensible in a democratic system, which is normally  sustained and protected by the State Institutions.
Let NS have faith in CJ and the rule of law if he is really sincere in the upholding democracy in Pakistan.
