Erdogan’s Syndrome

Erdogan’s Syndrome
Dr. Jassim Taqui

The Turkish President Tayyib Erdogan is trying his level best to change his course of being the top supporter of ISIS. He opened up on Israel and opted to be silent on the Israeli repression in occupied Gaza Strip and the West bank.
Erdogan snubbed the NATO for supporting the abortive coup that sought to physically eliminate him and ending the rising “political Islam,” through the clandestine and open support of the Muslim Brotherhood.
In the latest move, Erdogan indicated that he would permit the Russian air force to use Incirlik air base for anti-terror missions against the ISIS.
The move has compelled the Obama administration to shift its nuclear weapons out of Turkey. Washington was contemplating shifting its tactical nuclear weapons to Romania. However, Bucharest declined to be dragged into Washington’s dangerous game and Cold War II between the US and the Russian Federation.
Erdogan is at a loss to understand the dynamism of the Middle East. Suddenly, all forces, which he supported since 2011 in a bid to revive the Ottoman Empire, turned against him including his favorite. Neither Israel nor US-dominated NATO is in a mood to work with him.
His dream of becoming Sultan has been shattered by the very ISIS. Why would Abu Baker Al-Baghdadi let him becoming the Sultan when Al-Baghdadi is the proclaimed Amir ul Mo’mineen?
Ominously, the ISIS started targeting Turkey with suicide bombers. On 20th August, ISIS struck in Gaziantep city killing at least 30 and injuring over 100 innocent civilians.
Furthermore, other Turkish outfits started their campaign against Erdogan and his allies. Those who have found a window of opportunity include ISIS, PKK and the erstwhile supporter of Erdogan Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen.

For Erdogan, the lesson learnt from this episode of using ISIS to become the Sultan of the new Ottoman Empire has come rather late. The Fifth Power of the universe has already come into action. Watch the game of power struggle in the Middle East. Undoubtedly, this game is the most exciting development in the history of the Middle East. Notice, the Fifth Power coming silently into action.
