U.S. Embassy Sponsors Regional English Language
Program for Pakistani, Afghan, and Indian Students

Al-Bab Report

Islamabad, August 15, 2016 – Thirty-three students from across Pakistan depart soon for Camp Future Stars, a two-week English-language exchange program in Turkey sponsored by the U.S. government.  They will be joined by students from both Afghanistan and India.  The participants, ages 15-17, will focus on developing leadership and English language skills.

U.S. Embassy Regional English Language Officer Jen MacArthur met with the Pakistani participants and encouraged them to share their rich cultural heritage with fellow participants from other countries.

“Camp Future Stars not only offers students the opportunity to practice their English-language skills,” MacArthur said.  “It allows students from each of the participating countries to experience a new environment in Turkey and to serve as cultural ambassadors from their home nations.”

Hamza, a 16-year-old participant from Karachi, commented, “I’m excited to meet new people from other countries and to show that Pakistani students have a passion for learning.”

The U.S. Embassy has sponsored this annual exchange program since 2013.  Participants in the exchange program are current or former students of the U.S. Embassy’s two-year English Access Microscholarship Program who were nominated by their teachers.
