Modi’s indecent proposal

Modi’s indecent proposal
Dr. Jassim Taqui

If you see the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi  and how he receives the visiting heads of states, you would immediately remember the former Ugandan ruler Edi Amin and  former Libyan ruler Col. Moammar Al Qaddafi. Both were media centric. They would do anything to ensure the media attention. Ostensibly, Modi is emulating their model.

Modi’s actions are full of contradiction in dealing with Pakistan. First, he showed love and affection to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif . Suddenly, he started abusing NS when the latter stated that he would ensure that the people of Kashmir would exercise the right of self-determination.

When Nawaz Sharif stated that he would raise the issue of Indian massive human rights in Indian occupied State of Jammu and Kashmir, Modi came with a counter stance. He promptly stated that he would raise the human rights abuse in Baluchistan.

The irony is that none of Modi’s advisors explained to him that he could not do so since Baluchistan is an integral part of Pakistan while J&K State is disputed territory between India and Pakistan.

Ultimately, Modi had to swallow his words. His enthusiastic burst ended like a tempest in a teapot.

Ominously, Modi goes wild at times when his enthusiasm reaches the zenith. Suddenly, he issues a nuclear threat against Pakistan like the one, “If Pakistan used tactical nuclear weapons against the invading Indian troops, India would retaliate with a massive nuclear attack.”

Well, Modi perceives the nuclear weapons as children crackers. Apparently, his advisors could not whisper in his ears that in such an eventuality, India would also cease to exist.
