The dilemma of Nawaz Sharif

The dilemma of Nawaz Sharif
Dr. Jassim Taqui

The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is in the biggest dilemma of his life. The question is how to bail himself out from the charges of Panama Leaks.
He did everything to delay the investigation. He killed the Opposition initiative of TOR (terms of reference). He spent 48 days in London under the pretext of open heart surgery.

When he came back, his PML (N) failed to organize a single function to welcome him and to boost his morals.
He avoided coming to Islamabad and preferred to stay in his palace at Raiwind in Lahore. Presently, he is living in a guest house in Murry, which is part of Punjab.

In another move, PML (N) floated the rumor of his resignation as prime minister to be the President of Pakistan. Under the Constitution, the President enjoys immunity from legal persecution.

On Kashmir and India, he introduced a U- turn from his earlier stance of normalization of relations with India irrespective of New Delhi’s official stance, which considers the dispute Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of India.

In AJ&K elections, he won by spending billions of rupees. Reportedly, PML (N) purchased most of the votes. The rate was Rs. 25000 per vote.
Yet, the danger remains. Ostensibly, this is a time of accountability. The story can be best depicted by Dostoyevsky’s notion of “crime and punishment,” which reigns supreme.
